Burmese is the Sino-Tibetan language spoken in Myanmar where it is an official language. Although the Constitution of Myanmar officially recognizes the English name of the language as “the Myanmar language”, most English speakers continue to refer to the language as Burmese, after Burma, the previous name for the country of Myanmar.
When casting Burmese voices for your project, please remember that there are several dialects of Burmese. There are also related, but different, languages such as Karen, Sgaw and more that may be the correct language for your target audience. If you can find out what demographic you need to hit, we’ll get you the right language, dialect or accent to hit it!
