Cantonese is one of the official languages of Hong Kong (along with English) and of Macau (with Portuguese), and is spoken in Guangdong Province in Mainland China and nearby areas.
Other variations of Chinese we work with include Mandarin, Taiwanese Mandarin and Taiwanese Hokkien. We also have a large roster of English with a Chinese accent available, many of whom are bilingual speakers who can record your script in English as well as in Chinese, providing continuity of voice.
There is some confusion as to usage of the terms “traditional Chinese” and “simplified Chinese”. These both refer only to the written forms of the language, not the spoken language. It is important from a localization standpoint to know who your target audience is in order to choose the correct “Chinese” when you request a voiceover, even the correct “Cantonese”, as accent will vary with the demographic. Let us know if we can help with this!
