Chinese – Taiwanese Mandarin Voice Over

Taiwanese Mandarin is a dialect of Mandarin Chinese and the de facto official language of Taiwan. It is based on the phonology of the Beijing dialect together with the grammar of vernacular Chinese.

Taiwanese Hokkien, also known as Taiwanese/Taiwanese language in Taiwan, is a branched-off variant of Hokkien spoken natively by about 70% of the population of Taiwan.

The history of Taiwanese and the interaction with Mandarin is complex and at times controversial. While we are most-offen asked for Taiwanese Mandarin, there are times when Taiwanese Hokkien may be the appropriate choice for a voiceover. It’s always best to recognize the differences and look into which language or dialect is the best vehicle for your message. Let us know if we can help!

NOTE: There is some confusion as to usage of the terms “traditional Chinese” and “simplified Chinese”. These both refer only to the written forms of the language, not the spoken language. It is important from a localization standpoint to know who your target audience is in order to choose the correct “Chinese” when you request a voiceover.

You can sample our most-requested voices in Taiwanese Mandarin below, and Taiwanese Hokkien and other variations are available upon request.
